Old Colony Law is located in Hadley and serves the Pioneer Valley and Western Massachusetts. We are a unique law practice in that we focus exclusively on estate planning and asset protection.
We believe that everybody should have an estate plan in place, even if it’s a simple one. Our Foundational Estate Plans are designed to, at a minimum,
- Provide for an efficient transfer of your wealth;
- Dictate the manner in which your assets are to be distributed at your death;
- Secure the future financial support of your loved ones; and,
- Reflect your wishes for your end-of-life care.
In addition to Foundational Estate Planning, we incorporate more sophisticated and creative considerations – such as estate tax planning, charitable giving and asset protection techniques – into our planning when necessary to accomplish our clients’ goals.
Estate planning is more than a one-off legal service or merely transactional event. That’s why our estate planning process includes three in-person visits with us. We believe that good and comprehensive estate planning requires carefully weighing options, confronting potentially difficult questions, and making sure you understand how your plan works.
We also collaborate with financial advisors, financial planners, CPAs, tax preparers, insurance professionals and other lawyers to serve our mutual clients. This is especially true once your estate planning documents are executed so that we may work together to ensure proper funding and asset allocation.
Our perspective includes that of an attorney who is also a Certified Public Accountant and another attorney with experience crafting complex estate plans for high-net-worth individuals and business owners. In 2022, this husband-and-wife legal team decided to blend their respective experiences together specifically to serve business owners, married couples and families in Western Massachusetts.
For us, estate planning is not just an ancillary service line. This is what we do. We welcome opportunities to engage with our Western Massachusetts community and speak about estate planning basics and some advanced topics. Please feel welcome to schedule a phone call or consultation meeting with us to get started or to learn more about our capabilities.
