Ben Palkowski, Attorney, CPA

Practice Areas:

  • Estate Planning – estate tax minimization, asset protection and charitable giving
  • Campaign Finance – political organization start up, PAC Administration and political accounting

I am a Massachusetts asset protection attorney who provides legal counsel to individuals, married couples, families, business owners and nonprofits in the areas of estate planning and campaign finance.

Unlike most lawyers, I am also a Certified Public Accountant. I leverage my experience as a CPA to factor Massachusetts estate tax minimization techniques into estate plans; advise my clients on asset protection strategies; and identify financial issues before they percolate into legal problems.

Previously, I worked as a lobbyist, focusing on tax and health care legislation, first for a public sector labor union, and then at one of northern New England’s largest and leading law firms, representing Fortune 500 corporations and trade associations.

At Old Colony Law, I counsel nonprofits, candidates for public office and political influencers on establishing political organizations; designing tax-efficient charitable and political giving strategies; and unraveling campaign finance and IRS compliance issues.

I earned my law degree at the University of New Hampshire School of Law and my accounting degree at Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont. My wife and law partner, Claire, and I established Old Colony Law in 2021.

Claire and I are also the lucky owners of Petty, our orange cat who is named after the legendary songwriter, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, and three-time Grammy Award winner, Tom Petty.
