I am a Massachusetts attorney who provides legal counsel to individuals, married couples, families and business owners in the areas of estate planning and asset protection.
Unlike most lawyers, I am also a Certified Public Accountant. I leverage my experience as a CPA to factor Massachusetts estate tax minimization techniques into estate plans; advise my clients on asset protection strategies; and identify financial issues before they percolate into legal problems.
Previously, I worked as a tax and health care lobbyist, first for a public sector labor union, and then at one of northern New England’s largest and leading law firms, representing Fortune 500 corporations and trade associations.
My government relations experience also includes working with nonprofits, activists, candidates for public office and other political entrepreneurs on navigating the political process, establishing political organizations, and unraveling campaign finance and IRS compliance issues.
I earned my law degree at the University of New Hampshire School of Law and my accounting degree at Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont. My wife and law partner, Claire, and I are proud to be attorneys in the Pioneer Valley practicing estate planning in Western Massachusetts.
Claire and I are also the lucky owners of Petty, our orange cat who is named after the legendary songwriter, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, and three-time Grammy Award winner, Tom Petty.
